Audio & Signal Processing

Signal processing for people who make sound.

Consulting on signal processing, spatialization, and audio software for composers, ensembles, institutions, and researchers, grounded in a PhD in computer music and years of work in concert and studio.

About

A practicing artist with technical ability.

I hold a PhD in computer music with a dissertation on periodicity transforms in discrete-time audio, alongside a BA and MM in composition. My work moves between concert stage and code editor: as a practicing composer and performer with concerts and exhibitions internationally, and as a developer building the tools that make new sound possible.

I've consulted on academic and creative projects for composers including Roger Reynolds and Alvin Lucier, performed with red fish, blue fish, and worked alongside Steven Schick, plus a run of work applying the same signal-processing background to EEG research.

Services

Consulting across the signal chain, from concept to code.

Signal Processing & DSP

Custom effects, analysis, and audio manipulation algorithms built for a specific creative or technical problem.

Spatialization

Multichannel and object-based sound spatialization for concert works, installations, and immersive listening.

Algorithm & Software Design

Bespoke audio software, from prototype to plugin, for composers and studios who need something that doesn’t exist yet.

Creative & Research Consulting

Direction on experimental audio projects, and signal-processing consulting for EEG and other research applications.

Hider — Plugin, Coming Soon

A hidden track, in plain sight.

Hider encodes a second signal into the ultrasonic band of high-sample-rate audio — inaudible (except to your dog), riding inside the mix. An encoding plugin and a standalone decoder, built for anyone who wants to hide something in the music itself.

In final testing — check back soon. Interested in beta testing? Get in touch.
